Cadence Health had a sharp idea and a founder who could describe it in one sentence — a daily check-in app that helps people with chronic conditions spot patterns before they become problems. What they didn't have was an app.
Challenge
They were pre-product and pre-engineering. The risk wasn't building too little; it was building too much — burning the runway on features no user had asked for. They needed to get a real, trustworthy health app into actual hands quickly, learn from it, and do it on a startup budget without standing up a backend team.
The brief came down to:
- Validate the core loop with real users, fast
- Ship to both iOS and Android from one codebase
- Handle health data responsibly from day one
What we built
We ran a tight design-and-build sprint, scoping ruthlessly to the one loop that mattered: log, reflect, notice trends.
- Product design from flows to a calm, accessible UI built for daily one-handed use
- A cross-platform app in React Native with Expo, so iOS and Android shipped together and over-the-air updates kept iteration fast
- Supabase for auth, data, and row-level security — a managed backend the founder could run without a dedicated ops hire
- Trend visualizations and gentle reminders as the habit-forming core, with everything else deliberately cut from v1
We shipped to TestFlight in weeks, folded in early-user feedback, and submitted to both stores inside the quarter.
"Agapelo talked us out of features as often as into them. That discipline is the only reason we launched on time and on budget." — Founder, Cadence Health
Results
The outcome below reflects Cadence's launch and is offered as an illustrative example.
- 4 months from blank Figma file to live on the App Store and Google Play
- A single codebase serving both platforms, maintainable by a small team
- A validated core loop and real usage data to raise on, instead of a deck
Cadence got to market while the idea was still fresh — and a foundation they could build the next year of product on.
